Two weddings and two birthdays

The weekend passed by nicely, with both Dave and I attending separate weddings on Saturday while mom took the kiddos to my sister's for my nephew's birthday. (Thanks, mom and Jen, for watching my kids!) It's unfortunate that Dave and I had to go to different places because I think we would have enjoyed the weddings we were at much more had we been together. Oh well, whatchya gonna do? One of the bridesmaids at the wedding I went to was about six months pregnant, and I couldn't help thinking about Renee's wedding, which I was in, four days before Nolan was born. It was probably crazy, but fun and certainly memorable! And thank goodness for Dave's mom and her amazing streamstress abilities, or there's no way I would have had a dress to wear. I also couldn't help but think about how long ago our wedding seems. It's only been eight years, but it's amazing how much we've changed, both individually and as a couple. For us I think it's mostly been about kids. Anything that was a small annoyance before them either tripled in size once they came along or disappeared as unimportant. Suddenly, whether you're fighting or getting along great, you have to talk about them, who's picking them up, who's taking them to soccer, what you're doing that night, dinner. I'm not sure what they should tell you on your wedding day, but I don't think I got the full picture! On second thought, I'm glad nobody told me. I'm not sure I would have gone through with it! :)

Anyway, Sunday was my birthday, which was also nice. After church, mom and I went to breakfast (which is my favorite meal of the day). Then after she headed home, I went to the porch, read a couple of sections of the newspapers, and then took nearly a three hour nap. When I woke up, Dave was making brats on the grill. Yum! Then he ran to the gas station for me and got me toffee coffee (english toffee cappucino), which was the perfect end to the day! Oh, except all that was followed by bath and bed. I really couldn't have been happier.

This morning, this guy that I played volleyball with once (yes, Jenny, the sausage) had dropped his kids off at school at the same time I dropped off Abby and Cody (our neighbor). I was on my way to work, and he looked at me and said "Real clothes? I've only seen you in mom clothes." Ugh. I used to be a real person, more than just once a week. But the funny thing is, I'm slightly jealous of those people in "real" clothes when I'm in my mom clothes, but this morning, when I was in my "real" clothes, I was jealous of the women in their mom clothes! Hmmm, how do you get your cake and eat it too??
