So much

I have so much to catch up on. Yet, this is what I'm posting tonight. I know I'm a grammar and spelling nazi, but seriously. I got this in my email yesterday. Check out the red text.

Parents/Guardians:
One of the tools that the West Bend School District uses is the FITNESSGRAM® health-related fitness assessment. FITNESSGRAM®, the fitness assessment tool of the Presidential Youth Fitness Program, provides accurate and reliable information about your child’s level of health-related fitness. When it comes to your child’s health, a fitness assessment is an important step for two main reasons:Good health, a reduced risk for disease and illness, readiness to learn, and higher self-esteem: these are things you wish for your child, and these are the things the partners of the Presidential Youth Fitness Program (PYFP) are seeking to make reality for students nationwide. The physical education teachers in the West Bend School District have the power to help your child develop the knowledge and skills to improve his or her physical well-being and succeed long after high school graduation.
  1. It identifies your child’s current level of health-related fitness. This information is directly related to his or her risk for developing conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes. While you may think your child is too young to worry about such things now, think again. Positive habits established now will improve the chances your child will be active and healthy for years to come.
  2. It’s a baseline for measurement. When children have an idea of the areas in which they’re doing well as well as the areas that are in need of improvement, it’s clear where they need to focus and which components of fitness need the most attention. From here, working with your child’s physical education teacher, you and your child can set goals to improve or maintain his or level of physical fitness through a variety of physical activities.
All students in grades 3-12 in the West Bend School District participate in the Presidential Youth Fitness Program. The program contains assessments that measure the five health-related fitness components; cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Your son or daughter will be accessed prior to the conclusion of the first quarter and you will receive a report prior to Thanksgiving with their results. Students are exempted from the FITNESSGRAM® assessment if they obtain a written exemption from their physician indicating that they should not participate in elements of the assessment program. The exemption form along with additional information regarding the FITNESSGRAM® protocols can be accessed from the District’s website: west-bend.k12.wi.us under academics: curriculum: physical education.
If you have additional questions please contact your son or daughters physical education teacher.
Thank you,
Jason Levash

I'm ignoring (for the most part) that there's a missing apostrophe in the last paragraph. But I can't ignore what I bolded. NO! You may not access my son or my daughter. Neither would appreciate them. You may certainly assess them, though.
At least this didn't come from the English teacher!
